Prayer

At Hope Ridge, we believe prayer connects us to God’s presence, strength, and comfort. Whether you are celebrating a joy, walking through a challenge, or simply seeking peace, we would be honored to pray with you.
Prayer Requests
Our prayer team lifts requests throughout the week, and our congregation is faithful in praying for one another and our community. You can send prayer requests to prayerrequests@hoperidge.com.
Learning to Pray
Prayer is central to our life with God.
In the United Methodist tradition, prayer is simple, honest, and accessible to everyone. Prayer can be spoken or silent, written or spontaneous, individual or shared with others. What matters most is opening our hearts to God.
United Methodists hold to John Wesley’s emphasis on prayer as a means of grace, a way God works in us and through us. Prayer nurtures our relationship with God and strengthens us to live out our faith in the world.
United Methodists often pray by:
-
Giving thanks
-
Lifting joys and concerns
-
Praying for others
-
Reflecting on scripture
-
Sitting quietly and listening for God’s presence
If you’d like guidance or someone to pray with you, our pastor and prayer team are always glad to support you.

Prayer and Our Kids
We want our children to learn to love God and grow in faith in ways that feel natural and age-appropriate. Children learn through repetition, rhythm, and simple prayers they can carry with them throughout the week.
Families are encouraged to pray together at meals, bedtime, or anytime a child feels worried or grateful.
If you’re looking for children’s Bibles or devotional resources, our staff is always glad to recommend age-appropriate options.

Praying When You Feel Anxious
Anxiety can make it hard to pray, but God meets us where we are. Here are simple ways to pray in those moments:

-
Breathe a short prayer. “Inhale: Lord, bring me peace.” Exhale: “Lord, calm my heart.”
-
Be honest. “God, I’m overwhelmed. Please help me.”
-
Lean on scripture. Verses like Psalm 46:1 or Philippians 4:6–7 can steady your heart.
-
Sit in quiet. A few moments of stillness can help you sense God’s calming presence.

Our prayer team is honored to pray with and for you.
